Election 2019: Desperate Corbyn labels Boris’ plans as ‘manifesto for billionaires’

During the launch of his party’s manifesto, Mr Johnson promised to increase the numbers of nurses, GP appointments while also promising to introduce free TV licences for the over-75s. Following the launch of the manifesto, Mr Corbyn accused the Prime Minister of producing a “manifesto for billionaires”.

Commenting on the manifesto itself, Mr Corbyn said: “Boris Johnson has launched a manifesto for billionaires.

“They bought it and you’ll pay for it.

“After a decade of the Conservatives cutting our NHS, police and schools, all Boris Johnson is offering is more of the same: more cuts, more failure, and years more of Brexit uncertainty.

“Boris Johnson can’t be trusted.

“Older people face a triple whammy as he has failed to protect free TV licences for over 75s, refused to grant justice to women unfairly affected by the increase in the state pension age, and not offered a plan or extra money to fix the social care crisis.

“In contrast, Labour’s manifesto is full of popular policies that the political establishment has blocked for a generation.

“Labour will deliver the real change Britain needs, so that no one is held back and no community left behind.”

In what came as one of the bigger announcements of the day, Mr Johnson unveiled a plan to spend £33.9billion on the NHS.

As well as the 50,000 new nurses, the Prime Minister has also revealed that a nursing bursary will be reintroduced which will be worth between £5,000 to £8,0000.

Moreover, the Prime Minister has also claimed that under his party, they would guarantee 50 million or more GP appointments a year.

Furthermore, the manifesto has also stated to bring in an extra 6,000 more doctors in GP surgeries and 6,000 more primary care staff such as physiotherapists and pharmacists.

Moreover, the Prime Minister also reiterated his desire to ‘get Brexit done’.

In welcome news to Brexiteers within his party, the party also declared in its manifesto that it would not extend the transition period beyond December 2020.

Mr Johnson has tried to maintain a clear Brexit stance throughout the early stages of his campaign.

In contrast, the Labour leader, however, has received criticism for his neutral Brexit stance.

Under a Labour government, the UK would renegotiate a deal with the EU within three months while also holding a referendum in six.

However, Mr Corbyn has so far decided to remain neutral on how he will campaign on the matter.

Commenting on Labour’s stance, Mr Johnson said: “But Jeremy Corbyn won’t tell us whether he would even be willing to advise people to vote in favour of his own deal.

“He used to be indecisive, now he’s not so sure!

“The room then erupted in loud laughter before breaking into applause.

“Do we want that kind of leadership?

“Do we want more delay, more dither and drift and deadlock.

“Do we want 2020 to be another year of defeatism and despair.”
