Duchess of Cambridge made very special trip as part of secret work experience
The senior royal spent the time learning about the midwifery profession. Together with Prince William Kate has three children; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
George was born in 2013, Charlotte in 2015 and Louis most recently in 2018.
Whilst Kensington Palace kept details of Kate’s visits secret some information has emerged.
According to Hello! Kate spent time on the antenatal, postnatal and labour wards.
She is also reported to have joined the community midwife on a home visit.
Kate is heavily involved with the Early Years project, a charity that examines how life experiences between birth and the age of five affect people when they reach adulthood.
The Duchess is patron of the Nursing Now 2020 campaign, a role she assumed last year.
In 2018 she also took over from The Queen as patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Last week she hosted a Christmas party for midwives in London’s luxurious Rosewood Hotel.
In October Kate visited the Nook hospice in Norwich which cares for unwell children.
Kate and William are expected to join The Queen to celebrate Christmas at her Sandringham estate.
However the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they will be in America for the height of the festive period.
Every year the Queen, 93, invites her extended family to join her to celebrate the birth of Jesus at her Sandringham House estate in Norfolk.

After breakfast, the royals head to a Christmas morning service at nearby St Mary Magdalene Church.
Afterwards they make their way back to the country mansion and exchange gifts and tuck into dinner.
The whole affair is very structured, with specific times set for meals, activities and gatherings.
Harry, 35, is thought to have missed only one Christmas with his grandmother and the wider Royal Family in the past.
In 2012 the Duke of Sussex was stationed in Afghanistan where he spent the festive season with fellow troops.
Harry and Meghan are on a six-week break from royal duties and are believed to have celebrated Thanksgiving with the duchess’s mother Doria Ragland, 63, on Thursday.
The couple are thought to have flown to the US with Archie in tow.
The tot, who will turn seven months next week, is no stranger to long-haul flights, having made the trip to Cape Town and back.
Harry said although “stuff happens” he and William would “always be brothers”.
He said: “We’re certainly on different paths at the moment. I’ll always be there for him and as I know, he’ll always be there for me.”
