Drone footage of wild street party which ended in stabbing and police pelted with bottles

Police officers are hunting for thugs who sparked violent scenes after a party erupted in violence on Saturday night (June 12). Drone footage shows huge crowds of people at the party in Old Basford, Nottingham, which ended with an 18-year-old man being stabbed.

As officers were giving him first aid, yobs hurled bottles at them and damaged police cars.

Three officers suffered minor injuries including one who was bitten.

The stabbing victim was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre where he is still being treated. His injuries, although serious, are not currently thought to be life-threatening.

Police put roadblocks in place to stop gate-crashers but revellers were seen scrambling through back gardens to try and get to the event.

A further group then gathered nearby in David Lane and Mill Lane outside the police cordon, leading to a dispersal order having to be put in place to break up the crowd.

It is believed people travelled from outside Nottinghamshire to attend the illegal party.

Detective Inspector of Nottinghamshire Police, Danny Johnstone, said: “We understand the shock and concern incidents like this cause which is why we have stepped up visible patrols to reassure local residents and we will maintain a policing presence in the area while we continue to work tirelessly on this complex investigation.

“While I am pleased we quickly made arrests and charges in relation to this serious disorder, including a man who has already been sentenced, our enquiries remain ongoing to gather further evidence, identify others involved and bring them to justice.”
