Fire crews raced to an outbuilding near the B981 on Dales Road between Inverkeithing and Crossgates in Scotland. Dramatic images shared on social media show the fire spreading through woodland next to a building at the side of the road.

Thick, black smoke could be seen for miles as the inferno towered into the sky.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a fire within an outbuilding at Dale Cottages at around 10:07pm last night.

“We mobilised seven fire appliances to the scene.

“There were no reports of any casualties.”

Locals reported hearing explosions over a mile from the site as the fire raged.

The fire is understood to have started in a garage.

One local said: “It’s a garage fire – everyone looked to be out and safe.

“We phoned the fire brigade and they were already aware on en route so we left to keep the road clear.”

It came after firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire in Slateford Gait, Edinburgh on Tuesday, May 31.

Crews were called just before 8am after onlookers alerted emergency services to “intense” flames.

Edinburgh Live reported that a man was rescued from the flames by a neighbour who entered the building and dragged him to safety.

Paramedics checked both men with one taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

The fire, described as “well-developed”, destroyed a bottom floor flat.

Witness Mark Brown, 51, told Edinburgh Live: “I woke up this morning after hearing some shouting.

“I thought it might have been an altercation. I looked out the window and all I could see were flames coming from the building.

“People were shouting, ‘Fire, fire’, and there was a lot of smoke pouring out of the bottom floor flat.

“To be fair, around five minutes later the fire brigade were here. As you can see the bottom row of flats have been completely gutted.

“The first time I saw it I thought, ‘Wow I hope nobody is trapped in there’, but it seemed to get dealt with really quickly.”
