Cyclist confronts driver

A shocking confrontation between a cyclist and a driver has divided viewers after being posted on Twitter. The footage, shared by @MikeyCycling on Twitter, showed the cyclist going up to the Fiat 500 driver’s car and filming him using his mobile phone while in standstill traffic. Mikey, filming the video, can be heard saying “here we have someone” as he scours the queue of traffic in London. After looking at the name on the phone of the person he’s dialling, Mikey says “Wayne” before the driver rolls down his windows and responds “say it again?” The confrontation then gets heated after Mikey tells the driver: “I’m filming you using your phone behind the wheel”.

The driver then justifies his actions, explaining a “car has stopped”, meaning he is in standstill traffic.

Mikey then responds: “You’re still considered to be driving legally.”

Clearly frustrated, the driver then says: “No, the car has stopped. What are you f***ing worried about it for anyway?”

Mikey then informs the driver that he plans on sending the footage to the police.

The driver then tells Mikey: “Well go and do what you f***ing want… I’ve got cancer you c*** and I’m going to the hospital. F*** off I get out. Go on, f*** off.”

Mikey then says: “I’ll go when I’m ready to”. 

The driver continues: “You f***ing little stupid, skinny little c***.”

Mikey then says: “That’ll sound good in front of the magistrates”, before the driver responds “I don’t give a f*** mate, go on, f*** off.”

The traffic then starts moving, with the driver edging forwards. But Mikey continues to follow him, reading out the number plate of the vehicle he’s driving.

The confrontation then continues, with the driver saying: “Do you know what? What a f***ing n** you are”. Go and get f******d by your b** boy you soppy c***.”

Mikey then starts laughing, which appears to anger the driver further. He continues: “No way – never had a bird, have ya? I bet you’re a virgin. 100 percent you’re a virgin.”

He then delivers one last line to the cyclist, telling Mikey: “F***ing ugly little c***.”

The video divided viewers in the comments, with Jeremy Vine sharing the video and calling the cyclist “polite”.

User @choochitto wrote: “It’s a stranger interaction by all accounts. Driver shouldn’t be on his phone and getting aggressive but @MikeyCycling playing the role of vigilante doesn’t sit well either”.

Another said: “Is he a police officer? Why is he going around filming people in their cars…”

User @lad_golf wrote: “One day one of your vigilantes is going to get into serious trouble Jeremy, injured or worse, for provoking people like this. I’m not defending the driver, but this kind of provocation from ‘cyclists’ isn’t the way to deal with these situations.”
