A driver was caught making a cup of tea on the motorway – with a kettle and all.

Police pulled the motorist over on the M62 after spotting them using a mobile phone behind the wheel.

However, when they peered into the car, they noticed the driver was actually halfway through making a brew.

They shared a picture of the milky tea on the floor of the car, complete with a silver kettle.  

Tweeting about the incident yesterday, officers wrote: ‘[Traffic police] stopped a vehicle on M62 for the driver using their mobile phone whilst driving.

‘When he stopped the car, he noticed the driver was also in the process of making a cup of tea!

One social media user asked if the officers had taken a mug shot – it turns out they did.

Another simply put: ‘That takes the biscuit.’
