Dover BOMB SCARE: P&O ferry passengers evacuated after suspicious package found

Passengers were ordered off the vessel from the 6:40am service to Dover when the package was found during a check. A P&O Ferries spokesman said: “A suspicious package was found on one of our ships this morning. The authorities are currently in attendance, and all passengers and non-essential crew have been evacuated as a precaution.”

At 10am this morning DFDS Channel Freight tweeted that all its services to and from Dover are running with delays of over 90 minutes.

They said: “All departures are currently delayed due to a security incident in the Port of Dover, authorities are working to resolve this.

“Dover freight traffic is busy with buffer + TAP in place.

Dunkerque is free flowing

Calais is busy with 30 mins waiting time.”

P&0 ferry updates tweeted this morning: “We are sorry to say that due to the ongoing incident, the 06:40 sailing has now been cancelled. All passengers travelling on the 06:40 and 07:25 sailings will be allocated space on the next available sailings.”

 

All passengers at Dover have been told to expert delays today.

John Linskey tweeted: “Suspicious package found in the port of Dover been parked up for two hours are they are still letting cars into the port, all freight are stopped from coming into the port.”

Twitter user Carolyn Hughes suggested that the bomb squad could have found a “WW2 bomb or shell”.
