Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the inquiry into the deaths of Arber Fesko and Shkelqim Paja.
Mr Fesco, who was a 30-year old Albanian national, was discovered with stab wounds on 19 December in the boot of a car in a remote country lane near Scratchwood Park in Barnet and died a short time later.
The following day, 31-year old Mr Paja, originally from Kosovo but who lived in north London, was found dead in undergrowth in Elstree.
He had also been stabbed.
Two men have been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
Scotland Yard said on Sunday the continuing inquiry was a “complex investigation” and a full timeline of events was being drawn up.
