Double amputee stabbed man before being shot dead by cops, new video shows
A double amputee who was shot dead by police while hobbling away on his stumps knifed a man moments before, a new video released by cops shows.
Anthony Lowe Jr, 36, was fatally shot by police on January 26 after he allegedly refused to let go of a 12-inch butcher’s knife.
Police in Huntington Park, California, released additional footage from the day of the shooting. One of the clips showed Lowe at an intersection attacking a man with a knife.
Another video shows three police officers following Lowe, still holding a knife, and pointing their guns at him. The suspect is then seen falling to the ground.

Police released the new clips a week and a half after the shooting.
‘I fully recognize the need for answers and the impulse to rush to judgment, but we must allow peace and patience to guide us through this process,’ stated Huntington Park Police Chief Lozano.
A video that police released last week showed Lowe on the ground hobbling away from his wheelchair as two officers approached him. The cops first tried to Tase Lowe, clutching a knife, but he was unaffected by it. A third officer enters the frame and about 15 seconds later, the cops fire multiple shots at Lowe.
The double amputee, a father-of-two, was shot about 10 times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lowe’s family has announced that they will file a wrongful death lawsuit against the city, and will also allege civil rights violations.
‘There is absolutely no reason to shoot a double amputee in the back 11 times, who was hobbling away from officers,’ stated Annee Della Donna, a lawyer for Lowe’s family, regarding the release of the footage.
Police on Monday also played dispatch audio from the initial 911 call describing a black man in a wheelchair stabbing an individual.
Lowe lost his legs about five months ago during an altercation with cops in Texas.
His mother, Dorothy, said: ‘I wouldn’t wish this feeling for no mother to bear, to see this video and get no answers from the justice system.’
The three police officers have not been named and have been placed on leave pending an investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
