The yoga instructor and former makeup artist, 64, lives in Los Angeles just a 90-minute drive away from Harry, 36, and Meghan, 40, who live in Montecito The couple dramatically left the Royal Family last year, saying they wanted to carve out new financially independent roles for themselves in North America. Meghan’s time as a royal was made more controversial because of the interventions of estranged members of her family.
Her father, Thomas Markle, who divorced Doria when Meghan was six years old, has been critical of the Royal Family and once again hit out at Harry in an interview on GB News on Thursday.
However, amid Meghan’s frosty relationship with her dad, she has consistently maintained a close bond with her mum, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond.
Mrs Bond was interviewed for the 2021 documentary, “Secrets Of The Royal – The Markles vs. The Monarchy”.
She said: “Harry seems to have an absolutely brilliant relationship with Doria, there’s no doubt that Meghan and Doria are closer geographically, physically and perhaps emotionally as well than they ever have been.”

In June Meghan gave birth to her and Harry’s daughter Lilibet Diana in California, their second child together.
She is named after the family nickname for Harry’s grandmother the Queen, as well as his late mother, Princess Diana.
Lilibet’s brother Archie, two, made the move overseas with Harry and Meghan when they swapped their royal residence, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, for a mansion in Montecito last year.
According to journalist and commentator, Ayesha Hazarika, the Sussexes have fully embraced the Californian lifestyle and have relied on Doria’s help with raising young Archie.
Speaking for Secrets Of The Royal, she said: “Doria apparently enjoys feeding wee Archie organic food and she’s also a trained yoga instructor as well.
“I have these visions of them doing baby yoga together, so I think he’s definitely a very cool, Californian baby.”
Meghan’s father Thomas has this week opened up further about his fractious relationship with Meghan.
The former Hollywood lighting director spoke to GB News presenter Dan Wootton for his show, “The Big Question”.

He said: “I don’t know if he or she is the one behind it, but I really think Harry and probably the ‘soho friends’ have changed her in a bad way, not a good way.”
He also claimed to have offered an olive branch to Meghan by sending her flowers for her 40th birthday last week.
He said he had sent Meghan a bunch of red roses, with two yellow roses to symbolise his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, who he has still not met.
He also discussed how his and Meghan’s relationship has worsened, with the pair both having made regular appearances in the media.
Thomas added: “I’m blaming Harry for this mostly. Harry has this saying: If you look at the paparazzi, you’re done.
“I’m surprised Harry never bothered to come and visit me, or ask for my daughter’s hand in marriage.
“I was lying in hospital, talking to them from hospital, telling them I couldn’t come to wedding and they haven’t talked to me since.
“You’re a parent and your child’s in hospital, wouldn’t you be concerned if they live or die? They don’t answer or respond in any way shape of form.
“She’s [Meghan] changed, she’s not the daughter I knew. My daughter was a much more loving person than she is now.”
