Commentator and comedian Joy Behar appeared on US chatshow The View to discuss Prince Philip’s funeral over the weekend and why ordinary people are “invested” in the brothers’ relationship. She noted a lot of focus has been put on the interactions between Prince Harry and Prince William during the ceremony as Ms Behar urged the siblings to “like each other”. She compared their relationship with the biblical story of Cain and Abel adding she did not want them to be jealous and hateful of each other.

Speaking on The View, host Whoopi Goldberg spoke to guests about Prince Philip’s funeral and invited each one to talk about it.

Ms Barhar was asked if she watched it and replied: “I did watch some of it and normally we’re not that thrilled or interested in the Royal Family.

“But lately we have been and I was thinking we are invested in those boys because we’re all old enough, most of us, to remember the trauma that they experienced when their mother Princess Diana died in Paris.

“So we don’t want them to be Cain and Abel but we want them to like each other because they need each other, they experienced it together.

“And I think that we have that feeling, as people, for these kids – that’s one thing.”

She continued: “The other thing was I really felt for the Queen this time because this she was, poor thing, all by herself after 73 years with this guy.

“They had a decently interesting, well maybe better than decent, marriage I think it almost looks like they were happy.

“If you believe that because people in that position really are happy together then they look like they were happy together.

“And the other thing about him is that he was fun and funny, you cannot beat that in a man when they’re fun

“You just don’t want them to leave.”

Prince Harry and Prince William came face-to-face publicly for the first time at the royal funeral since Harry’s departure from the Royal Family in 2020.

The siblings were seen talking during the event when the pair were forced to walk to the entrance of Windsor Castle together.
