Donald Trump appeals sexual assault verdict as accuser considers suing him again
Ex-President Donald Trump is filing an appeal after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming a writer – who says she is considering suing him a third time.
Trump’s lawyers filed a notice of appeal in the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday afternoon, less than 48 hours after a Manhattan jury awarded $5million to columnist E Jean Carroll.
The appeal was filed the same day that Carroll said she may sue Trump a third time, after his scathing comments about her in a Wednesday night CNN town hall.
Trump in the televised town hall called Carroll a ‘whack job’ and called the case ‘rigged’.
Carroll said she was asleep while Trump criticized her and that her attorney sent her a transcript of his remarks and she stopped after the first paragraph.
‘It’s just stupid, it’s just disgusting, vile, foul, it wounds people,’ she told The New York Times on Thursday.
Trump’s team previously said he planned to appeal the judgement.
