‘Do your jobs!’ Police slammed after RAVING with Extinction Rebellion at London protest

The footage shows two police officers dancing with their hands pumping in the air to the chants of protesters saying “We love you!” When the music stops, the crowds give the police officers a huge round of applause. East of England MEP Patrick O’Flynn tweeted: “Can anyone really think it wise for police, who are meant to be authority figures, to be so undignified and so obviously desperate to be liked?”

Can anyone really think it wise for police, who are meant to be authority figures, to be so undignified and so obviously desperate to be liked?”

Paul Christian wrote on the social media platform: “Pathetic. They should be doing their jobs.”

Max Edwards wrote: “No its pathetic, I get the need for community engagement by the police thats fine but imagine someone attacked the protesters with a knife while the officers were dancing like idiots. At the end of the day there job is to keep the public safe.”

Another angry Twitter user said: “Worst example of Dad dancing. They’re as stupid and ineffectual as they look!”

One Twitter user, @woofboy, wrote: “Police at #OxfordCircus currently in a huddle discussing what tunes they’d put on the playlist. 😀 Maybe the joyfulness of the #ExtinctionRebellion protestors is rubbing off on them. *fingers crossed.”

The video has been shared as London enters its fourth day of protests which has resulted in 400 arrests so far.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan was accused of encouraging disobedience when he supported the protesters.

He tweeted: “We’re facing a climate emergency.

“I fully support the right of protesters to protest on this vital issue, and urge organisers to work with police to ensure their demonstrations are peaceful and lawful and that disruption is kept to a minimum.”

Commuters, tourists and politicians have been left furious as major transport routes continue to be blocked at Marble Arch, Waterloo Bridge, Parliament Square and Oxford Circus since Monday.

Despite the arrests, activists have warned the roadblocks will continue until at least Friday.
