Royal expert Marlene Koenig admitted that while she remains a supporter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, there were moments where she was concerned during their Oprah interview. While speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Koenig insisted there were claims by Meghan that Oprah should have challenged. Most notably, Ms Koenig said the Duchess of Sussex’s claim about her passport being taken away from her.

The Royal expert poked holes in this idea and noted that Meghan travelled extensively during her time within the Royal Family.

Ms Koenig said: “There were certain little things in the interview.

“Like when Meghan said, they took away my keys, they took away my passport.

“I would have clarified, I would have asked if that was when she was on a plane for an official engagement.

“You know, when all the passports were collected and they are taking off and they go through VIP passport controls so that you don’t have to stand in line.

“You don’t even have to pick up your baggage, it is done for you, so was that what Meghan was talking about.”

Ms Koenig continued to question the validity of the claims Meghan made regarding her passport.

She said: “Because how could they have taken your passport when you flew to New York, Italy and all these different places.

“She would have been travelling on a regular US passport, she would not have had a diplomatic passport.

“She certainly would not have had a British passport because she was not a British national.

“I thought that was a bit disingenuous and Oprah didn’t challenge.

“She just let it flow as if it was gospel and I would have challenged certain statements.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was subsequently fired from his position after continuous rants against the Duchess and claims he did not believe her.

Other commentators have also weighed in and drawn their own conclusion as to the truthfulness of the interview.

Ms Koenig did admit that it was clear Meghan had been treated unfairly during her time in the Royal Family by the press, however.
