Did Meghan named Archie after THIS man? Inspiration who played HUGE role in Harry’s life

Meghan and Harry welcomed their newborn son, Archie-Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, on May 6, weighing 7lbs 6oz. There has been rising speculation over why the royal couple decided to name their son Archie – but reports suggest the name has a special meaning to his father Prince Harry. It is believed the duke named his son Archie after his former commanding officer, Major Tom Archer-Burton, who helped him get a spot fighting on the frontline during the prince’s secretive Afghanistan tour in 2008. Prince Harry managed to convince the commander to secure him a spot alongside troops, making him the first royal to be deployed since Prince Andrew in the 1982 Falklands War.

Major Archer-Burton kept Harry’s deployment low key and out of the public eye, commenting afterwards that the prince was “desperate to join his men”.

Harry was determined to go to Iraq, so much so that he was willing to quit the army if he would not be deployed.

The bond between the two grew stronger, and Harry is said to have introduced Major Archer-Burton to his wife Meghan and the rest of the Royal Family.

Last night a source told The Sun on Sunday: “It’s well known in Army circles, and Archie’s inner circle, that baby Archie is a nod to him”.

The source added that despite the huge honour, the “incredibly modest chap” wont be “making a bid deal” out of it.

Major Archer-Burton also attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May last year.

However, there have also been rising speculations Archie was named after Meghan’s pet cat.

A former close friend told the Sun: “Doria rescued Archie and he became an important part of the household. Meghan loved playing with him and she was always talking about him to her friends.

“It’s no surprise she named her new baby Archie.

“She loved that cat.”

The cat is believed to have died while Meghan was studying at Northwestern University in Evanston in Illinois.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed the newest addition to their family on May 6 at 5.26 am.

Making the announcement outside his home at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, Prince Harry said: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we’re both absolutely thrilled.”
