Diana would not have been ‘ecstatic’ about Meghan – ‘Trouble may have brewed’

The 69-year-old Jamaican-born socialite claimed the similar personalities Meghan Markle and and Prince Harry’s mother Princess Diana would have shared “would make me believe trouble may well have brewed down the line”. Speaking to New! Magazine, she said: “I think Meghan and Diana are sufficiently similar personalities for there to have been the potential for conflict. They have very similar personalities, which would make me believe trouble may well have brewed down the line.”

Further explaining her theory Meghan and Diana would have shared similar traits, she quipped: “It’s no accident that Meghan’s an actress and everyone called Diana the actress.”

Lady Colin also claimed the Duchess of Sussex “wanted to become a princess” and “sought it out”.

The socialite continued: “They want perpetual stardom scripted by themselves.

“With some it works well, with others the results are more mixed. Let’s say the jury’s out.”

Lady Colin also told the Irish Independent in March: “We must hope that Meghan has no psychological instability – as Diana had – and won’t hit the buffers at any point, as Diana did.”

Lady Colin was more complimentary about Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, adding she “can’t be faulted in her performance or demeanour”.

Earlier this year, Lady Colin claimed on a documentary pitting the two Duchesses against each other that Meghan has ‘considerably changed’ Harry, who is ‘besotted’ by her.

Speaking in the Channel 5 documentary Kate V Meghan: Princesses At War, which covered the apparent ongoing rift between the pair, Lady Colin revealed that the Duke of Sussex is “beguiled” by his new wife.

The television programme claimed relations between Harry and his brother Prince William are more strained, but that he is happier than ever since settling down with Meghan.

Last month, Lady Colin warned Meghan risks “disappointing” billions of people who are “deeply invested” in her great “enterprise”.

Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, she said: “I’m Jamaican so I understand that people of colour all over the world are very deeply invested in this enterprise being a great success.

“She embodies something that she set out to achieve and hopefully she will stand the course and go the full ten yards.

“I think it will be a great tragedy if she doesn’t or if things derail, because of all of those hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people whose hopes she embodies, would be so disappointed.”

Lady Colin added: “It is a big responsibility but she chose it.

“She’s extremely ambitious, she’s extremely bright, she knows exactly what she did. She knows exactly what she’s about.

“In life, you make the choice, you have to deliver the goods.

“I would hope she delivers the goods continually and for the rest of her life. That’s my hope.”
