Meghan and Harry are currently embroiled in a tense showdown with the Royal Family following their interview with Oprah Winfrey. The pair made several allegations against the Firm, including on race and mental health. It comes as Buckingham Palace confirmed last month that they would not return as working members of the family.
Their honorary military appointments and patronages will now be redistributed among working members.
Amid all of this, Meghan and Harry last month announced that they were expecting their second child.
They revealed to Oprah that it was a girl.
Many have in the past said that Harry would honour his mother if he were to ever have a daughter.
Royal commentator and entertainment reporter Ashley Pearson, speaking to the 2020 Amazon Prime documentary, ‘Meghan Markle: Changing Traditions’, noted how the couple wanted the sex of their first child, Archie, to be a surprise.
Ms Pearson said she was confident that their next child would “probably” be called Diana.
This was made all the more prevalent, the commentator noted, since Diana had not had the opportunity to meet her grandchildren.
She explained: “In the lead up to the birth, Harry and Meghan both said they didn’t want to know the sex, they wanted it to be a surprise, so they had to obviously choose girl and boy names.

“Had it been a girl, Diana was very much a favourite name, and I believe it was very likely that Diana would have been the first name or at least in the middle of that long name.
“And the reason is, from the beginning, Harry and William both have included their mother whenever possible in their relationship and I think it grieves them both that she wasn’t there when they married.
“She wasn’t there to see her grandchildren, and so I believe with all my heart Diana is probably in future going to be a girl’s name for this pair.”
According to Oddschecker, Diana is currently the most likely name for their daughter at 4 to 1.

During the Oprah interview, Harry said he feared that history was repeating itself.
It was largely interpreted as a reference to Diana and her struggles within the Royal Family.
He said: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side.
“Because I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her [Diana], going through this process by herself all those years ago.
“It’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.”
Diana sadly passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
Meanwhile, in response to the allegations, Buckingham Palace, in a statement, said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
“Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
