The Princess of Wales liked to lead a healthy lifestyle and made sure she stayed fit, according to a fashion expert. The late royal continued to inspire royal fans with fashion choices long after her untimely death in 1997.

Writing for the Telegraph, fashion experts who worked with Diana have taken a look back at her iconic life ahead of what would have been her 60th birthday.

Designer Jasper Conran said: “Diana went to the gym every day and didn’t drink so she would have aged very gracefully.

“She’d have taken a good look at those plumped up society faces and probably thought ‘best not’.”

High-fashion hair stylist Sam McKnight echoed Mr Conran’s remarks, adding that the late Princess was not vain about the way she looked.

He said: “Diana loved to look good. And she worked quite hard at it, as much out of respect for the public as for herself.

“She wasn’t vain. It was all about staying healthy and fit.”

Mr McKnight also highlighted Diana’s ability to lead the way when it came to new ways to improve her wellbeing.

He told The Telegraph: “She knew that health was the key to confidence and great looks.

“She was way ahead of her time with alternative therapies and her daily fitness regime, and would have continued to be a great advocate of wellbeing.”

Prince William and Prince Harry honoured Diana’s life and legacy last week with the unveiling of a statue in her memory.

The poignant event took place on Thursday in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, believed to be one of the Princess of Wales’ favourite spots.

Due to coronavirus regulations only Diana’s two sons and a restricted guest list were in attendance.

William and Harry revealed the statue in the company of Diana’s siblings, artist Ian Rank-Broadley and garden designer Pip Morrison.
