Diana warning: Autumn Phillips may ‘go rogue’ to expose Royal Family secrets like Princess
Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, has announced that he will be officially separating from his wife Autumn after 12 years together. The news has sent shock waves through the Royal Family, prompting some experts to compare the situation to the marriage breakdown of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Royal commentator Angela Mollard spoke to New Idea’s Zoe Burrell on the Royals podcast abut the divorce, warning that Autumn could “go rogue” if the break up was not handled well.
Ms Mollard told listeners: “The last thing you want is for someone like Autumn to be poorly treated, as Diana would have claimed that she was, and to sort of go rogue and start revealing all sorts of things about the family.
“Diana kept thinking that every time she spoke after her divorce, it would clear the air.
“It never cleared the air, it just caused more speculation and consternation about what was going on for her.
“People kept taking sides. Well before Brad and Jen and Angelina, it was very much who’s side were you on and we don’t want to see that.”
She continued: “That has to be very carefully managed.
“I think we’ve moved to a new era with divorce where it is amicable.
“There are plenty of celebrity examples of people getting on with each other for the good of their children.
“Divorce used to be highly adversarial, but now it can be harmonious for everyone involved.”
The royal commentator added: “With Peter and Autumn, their daughters are much younger, they still have to do the school run, they still have to go to events together.
“So being able to be amicable about this situation advances things and just makes it better for the children and everyone.
“It’s really sad because they had a good run, but it does reflect the rest of the world.”

Ms Mollard also used the “horrendous” breakdown of Diana and Prince Charles’ relationship as a warning.
She said: “What I hope we will not see again is as toxic a divorce as we saw with Diana and Charles. That was horrendous.
“I was in London through those years and there was backstabbing and little dropping of stories and friends ringing up royal reporters and saying this and that about the others.
“And of course we had those huge interviews. The Panorama interview where Diana said there were three in the marriage.
“And Charles’ interview with Jonathan Dimbleby in which he admitted he had cheated on Diana ‘after it was irretrievably broken down’.”
