David Cameron accidentally said he ‘s**t’ when he saw Boris Johnson’s big red Brexit bus during an interview on This Morning.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were in hysterics as the flustered former Prime Minister scrambled to correct himself.

He remarked on the infamous bus during an exchange about comments in his memoirs, released tomorrow, branding Johnson and Michael Gove ‘ambassadors for the post-truth age’, saying: ‘I shat.’

As his hosts cracked up he quickly scrambled: ‘I shouted at the television. It was incredibly frustrating.’

The ex-PM appeared on the couch alongside wife Samantha.

Talking about the Brexit campaign he said accepted responsibility for ‘holding the referendum and losing the referendum’ along with the ‘difficult consequences that followed’ and said he was ‘deeply sorry about what has happened since’.
