Dad-of-three cooks 'most patriotic steak ever' in shape of Great Britain

It was dinner with a difference in the Cooper household this week, after dad Nigel made an exciting edible discovery.

He had flipped over a rump steak when he noticed a familiar outline.

The £4.99 Aldi steak bore a striking resemblance – or so he reckoned – to the shape of Great Britain.

The self-employed joiner snapped a photo to send to his wife, who he admitted ‘wasn’t as enthusiastic’ about the find.

Nigel, 54, told Teesside Live: ‘I’ve definitely bagged one of Britain’s most patriotic steaks, I don’t think anyone could beat that.

‘I noticed the uncanny resemblance after cooking it for a few minutes on one side and then flipped it over.

‘It looked like Great Britain and decided to take a photo. My wife wasn’t as enthusiastic about it as I was.’

After snapping a quick photo, Nigel served it up with some chips, mushrooms and tomatoes.

The dad-of-three started on the south coast of his 16oz steak and worked his way up to the Middlesborough area when he started to feel full.

He left the ‘Scotland’ segment to be enjoyed the following night.

Nigel may have quickly scoffed his foodie find, but in other situations rare food finds have had financial success.

Last year, teenager Rylee Stuart got offered £10,000 for her oddly-shaped Dorito.

Posting about it on TikTok, she had decided to list it on eBay, starting at under a dollar.

After her video went viral, Dorito offered her the five-figure-sum in thanks for her ‘boldness and entrepreneurial spirit’.

Elsewhere, a Huddersfield woman got a full refund after she found an entire potato in her bag of crisps.
