Nigel Malt is accused of killing Lauren, 19, in the village of West Winch, Norfolk, on Sunday evening.
Malt, 44, of King’s Lynn, who has “reduced mobility”, limped into the dock at Norwich magistrates’ court to confirm his name, address and date of birth. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court today.
Magistrates heard Lauren was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn but later died. Her father was arrested at the hospital.
A preliminary post-mortem examination said Lauren died from chest and stomach injuries. Lauren’s family and friends paid tribute to the teenager on social media.
Her grandmother, Sheila Ruddell, said: “My beautiful granddaughter is going to be missed. It is awful.”
Her friend Colleen Cox wrote: “No one will ever be like her, she’s one in the world forever making people smile… always there caring for others.”
Kaiya-j Eglen said: “My rock. My little bean. My best friend. I will miss you every waking moment my love.”
