Dad charged with murdering eight-week-old daughter

A father has been charged with the murder of his newborn baby after she suffered severe head injuries, police have confirmed.

Paramedics were called after baby Holly Roe, eight weeks, was reported to be having breathing difficulties on September 10, last year.

She was rushed from her home in Crowborough, East Sussex, in the early hours to Pembury Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination revealed her cause of death was a traumatic head injury, Sussex Police said.

Dad Michael Roe, 32, was arrested at their home on Tuesday evening and charged with murder of a child under one-year-old between September 8 and 11, 2018.

He was also charged with wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Meanwhile, Holly’s mother Tiffany Tate, 21, also faces a charge of causing or allowing the death of a child between July 14 and September 11 2018, police said.

The father appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, while Tate will appear before Brighton magistrates on September 12.
