A man has been charged with murder after a retired lecturer was shot with a crossbow.

Gerald Corrigan, 74, was struck with a bolt outside his home on Anglesey in north Wales on 19 April as he adjusted his satellite dish, and died from his injuries in hospital on 11 May.

The accused – Terence Michael Whall, 38, from Bryngwran – is due before Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Two other men, aged 36 and 48, who were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, fraud and other offences, have been released on conditional bail.

A 50-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of money laundering and fraud related offences has been let go under the same arrangement.

“I continue to appeal to members of our community to come forward and help us with this investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Kearney

He added: “Specialist officers continue to support Mr Corrigan’s partner Marie, and his son and daughter, Neale and Fiona.”

Mr Corrigan retired to Anglesey more than 20 years ago after working as a lecturer in photography and video in Lancashire.
