Boris Johnson has recently reintroduced working from home and mandatory indoor public face masks as the Omicron variant spreads in the UK. The Government has been warned the new variant is currently infecting 200,000 people a day in Britain and is on track to become the dominant strain. A Government source warned the Sun: “You will be able to see your family at Christmas, but at this rate, you might not be able to do it in a pub. As for New Year’s Eve, that is a different story.”

MPs poised to vote on Plan B restrictions

Boris Johnson is preparing to face a huge Tory rebellion, with dozens of MPs poised to vote against the latest Covid restrictions today. 

More than 70 backbenchers are threatening to defy the whips and oppose Plan B rules, which were introduced after Omicron infections began to soar. 

The measures include Covid passes for entry into nightclubs and other venues. 

However, the new restrictions are expected to pass the Commons with the support of Labour, who back tighter controls.
