Couple accused of killing newborn baby son pictured for the first time

A couple accused of killing their four-month-old baby have been pictured for the first time as they appeared in court for a pre-trial review.

Kayleigh Driver, 29, and Michael Davis, 27, have denied murdering their son Oliver Davis.

He died on October 21, 2017, at a home in Beaumont Leys, Leicester.

Davis and Driver, both of Leicester, are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm, and causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

They have denied all the charges.

The couple appeared at Leicester Crown Court yesterday for a pre-trial review ahead of a trial which is expected to happen in October.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman previously said: ‘Two people have been charged with a murder following the death of a four-week-old baby in 2017.

‘The charges related to the death of baby Ollie Davis, who was found unresponsive in his cot on the morning on 21 October 2017 at the then home address in Upper Temple Walk, Beaumont Leys.

‘The two people were arrested on 27 October 2017.

‘Since then, a complex investigation has been carried out.’
