Coronavirus has caused nearly 3,000 cases in the UK this year, with daily totals steadily marching upwards despite government advice for people to stay inside. Boris Johnson has delivered daily updates on the disease flanked by the country’s chief scientific and medical minds, with more measures potentially on the horizon.
What is next for the UK?
In his now daily press conference alongside Chris Whitty, the country’s Chief Medical Officer, Boris Johnson said the current COVID-19 advice has been followed with “patchy” results in the UK.
As such, the Prime Minister did not rule out taking any further measures against the virus as he declared the government would “turn the tide” against it within 12 weeks.
He called on people to continue avoiding public gatherings, which could stall the virus’ progress through the UK.
