Coronavirus: Transport union claims there will be no Night Tube in London until spring 2021

Union bosses have described transport in London during the coronavirus outbreak as “fragile” after they were told there will be no Night Tube services until March 2021.

The Friday and Saturday 24-hour service was suspended at the beginning of the outbreak and will not resume until March 31 next year, the RMT union told Sky News.

Transport for London (TfL) was bailed out by the government last month with a £1.6bn loan after its income fell by 90% during the coronavirus lockdown.

The government is trying to keep Tube use well below normal levels to stop the spread of COVID-19, but the union claims that without Night Tube, passengers will be pushed onto night buses instead, where there is less space for social distancing.
