Coronavirus news live – Manchester faces tier 3 lockdown as 138 more die
Boris Johnson is reportedly set to plunge Greater Manchester into a tier three lockdown today, without the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham’s apporval.
Andy Burham has been vocal in his dissaproval of harsher restrictions being imposed on Manchester, which would see more venue closures.
Meanwhile, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has outlined more of the details of Scotland’s own tier system.
The new system will replace Scotland’s current temporary lockdown rules when they end on October 25.
The news comes as a further 138 people died with coronavirus and a further 18,890 positive tests has also been reported yesterday.
This brings the UK’s death toll to 43,293, and the total number of cases to 673,622.
