Another 674 people died from coronavirus in hospitals and care homes across the UK. This took the death toll in hospitals to at least 26,711 yesterday.

Previously, the Government only counted people who had died in hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson returned to the daily briefings yesterday for the first time since he was hospitalised with Covid-19. This was also the day after he welcomed a new baby boy with partner Carrie Symonds.
