Visitors to the seaside town reported queues for attractions, little social distancing and few people wearing masks indoors. Stacey Rasheed, from Blackburn, posted pictures of crowds gathering along the promenade and around Central Pier. She tweeted: “This was Blackpool last night! No social distancing anywhere, no masks worn in any amusements or shops… it’s a joke.”

Lancashire Police Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods warned: “Make sensible decisions to protect yourselves.

Crowds of youngsters were also seen enjoying a night out in Leeds, despite virus warnings.
