Former World Health Organisation professor Karol Sikora revealed coronavirus is losing its severity. While on TalkRadio with Mike Graham, the health expert said he is optimistic by September the UK will return to normal. He added this is because, towards the end of the pandemic in Italy, the virus began to be less severe to those who had contracted the disease.

Professor Sikora argued this could mean the virus is adapting to live within its host without causing major health issues.

Mr Graham said: “Are we likely to see fewer fatalities, I suppose is my question.”

Professor Sikora replied: “It seems to be the case that the virus is losing its punch for some reason.

“We don’t know why, but in Italy, it has been widely documented that viral infections towards the end of the pandemic there, which is nearly completely over, had much more virus lows.

“It is as if the virus just wants to live with us, that is what these virus’ want.

“It is almost like a dance between the host and the pathogen.

“Eventually the pathogen wants to embrace the host and live with it forever.”

Professor Sikora noted there was evidence to show many people have the SARS virus within themselves but do not suffer from the virus.

He continued: “Many of us have SARS, from 2003, in us and we are just living with it.

“It is a controlled way and it is circulating around.”

“This virus has been exceptional, coronavirus has been exceptionally different.”

Professor Sikora closed with a notion of optimism on the coronavirus crisis in the UK.
