Corbyn FAILS to answer Marr’s crucial and simple Brexit question – ‘that’s not an answer’
Jeremy Corbyn failed to answer the BBC’s Andrew Marr as he attempted to find out what was Labour position on Brexit. Mr Marr asked the question repeatedly throughout the interview and concluded that the Labour leader was offering long answers as opposed to clear ones. He began by asking the interview whether Mr Corbyn wanted to leave the European Union.
The Labour leader replied: “I want us to get a good deal and then have a decision in the public after that.
Mr Marr then attempted to confirm whether Labour wants to get out of the EU.
Mr Corbyn replied: “No, what we fought the general election on was to respect the result of the referendum, and that’ we’ve done.
“We want to try to get a deal which guarantees trade and relations with Europe in the future.
“If we can get that through Parliament, the proposals we’ve put, then I think it would be reasonable to have a public vote to decide on that in the future.”
Unsatisfied with the answers he had been receiving the BBC host asked for complete clarification on whether Labour wants to Leave the European Union.
The Labour leader replied: “We said, all along we respect the result of the general election obviously, we respect the result of the referendum.
“We do not believe a no deal exit from the European Union can be anything but very bad for the British economy and very bad for the living standards.
“All that Nigel Farage and the Right are offering is a no deal exit.
“They’re not bothering to tell anybody about the job losses that are going to come as a result of that.
“They’re not bothering to tell anybody about the loss of investment and all the damage that’s going to be done and the trade deals they will then do with Donald Trump.”
Mr Marr then went on to ask whether Mr Corbyn personally wanted to leave the European Union.
Mr Corbyn then explained that he voted Remain and his party was one of “Remain and reform.”
A dissatisfied Mr Marr concluded that the Labour leader was giving him long answers but not necessarily clear answers to his question on whether he is in or out.
