Cops told to steak out Greggs after releasing picture of pasty-loving crook
A convicted sex offender who posed for his mugshot in a Greggs jumper is being hunted by police.
Cops turned to the public for help finding Shaun Aver, 36, who is wanted on recall to prison in Greater Manchester.
But their appeal has sparked a flurry of people all making the same joke.
‘Have you checked Greggs?’ one person quipped. ‘Just follow the trail of flaky pastry,’ another joked.
One even suggested the pasty-loving crook was ‘wanted for baking and entering and possession of an offensive jumper’.
Another joker even posted a map of all the Greggs in the Bury area where Aver was last seen.
Detective constable Stewart Marshall previously described Aver as ‘a risk to women and children’.
Cops said he has repeatedly breached the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which require him to register at a police station every week.
He is known to have links to Preston, Blackpool, Blackburn and Fleetwood in Lancashire.
Anybody with information on Aver’s whereabouts is urged call the police immediately.
