Thomas Markle’s relationship with his daughter Meghan Markle is “dead and buried” according to royal expert Russell Myers. His comments come after Mr Markle’s most recent televised interview with 60 Minutes Australia, where he detailed his estranged relationship with the Duchess of Sussex. The former lighting director has said he will “keep on talking” until his daughter and Prince Harry take notice of him.

Russell Myers said, “I think that relationship is dead and buried unfortunately.

“However, Thomas Markle has said that he’s not going to go quietly and he’s been making several statements in the press.”

He continued: “He’s said he’s going to keep on talking until he is heard, but I think it’ll probably be a cold day in hell before them two get back together.”

Meghan Markle’s relationship with her father has been strained since before her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

During the interview with 60 Minutes, Thomas Markle revealed he had not spoken to his daughter in over three years and that he was yet to meet his grandchildren.

In the lead-up to the royal wedding, Mr Markle liaised with the paparazzi to stage photographs that he believed would improve his public profile.

This included images of him at a tuxedo-fitting and researching the history of Britain in an internet cafe.

He later admitted the pictures looked “stupid” and withdrew from attending Meghan’s wedding, citing health reasons. Prince Charles stepped in to walk his new daughter-in-law down the aisle.

Their relationship took a further blow when he released extracts of a private letter from Meghan to The Mail on Sunday.

This turned into a High Court battle as the Duchess of Sussex launched a lawsuit against The Mail on Sunday for copyright and invasion of privacy.

Thomas Markle has also participated in numerous paid interviews, in which he has discussed the strained relationship between him and his daughter and given his thoughts on Megxit.

In many instances, he has criticised Meghan and Harry’s behaviour, and accused them of “cheapening” the monarchy.

In this latest interview, he says he has apologised to his daughter “a hundred times” but that she refuses to offer forgiveness.

The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her father’s “betrayal” during her tell-all interview with Oprah in March. She said that she couldn’t “imagine doing anything to hurt my child. I can’t reconcile that.”

Whilst she enjoys a close relationship with her mother Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle is also estranged from other members of her father’s family.

Both her half-sister and half-brother, Samantha Markle and Thomas Markle Jr, weren’t invited to her wedding and have publicly spoken about their rift with the Duchess.
