18-year-old Haider Shamas died on Saturday, just days after his 14-year-old sister Malika tragically passed away after both struggled in the sea. A 15-year old relative who was also involved is expected to make a full recovery. 

Lifeguards and paramedics battled to save the three teenagers after getting into difficulty near Marine Parade at around 1.40pm. 

Several members of the public were also involved in the rescue mission, with two other people receiving treatment on the beach. 

Beach goer Becky Bryant said: “It was so distressing, everyone was trying to do what they could – lifeguards, air ambulance, they truly worked as a team.”
