Christmas trees are already on sale at The Range

It may be four months before Santa visits our homes, but Christmas trees have already gone on sale in some places.

This year’s winner for the first ‘we’ve not even had Halloween yet’ award is The Range in Worcester.

Dave Harford spotted them on sale yesterday – yes, the last day of August – as he did some non-festive shopping.

He said: ‘Oh come on, it’s only just bloody September.’

With just 115 days to go until the big day, a spokesperson for The Range said they know thinking about Christmas early is a ‘polarising’ subject for Brits.

They said: ‘The recent bad weather looks to have really created a shift in peoples’ shopping habits this year.’

But it’s not just in store, the homewares shop has started selling its Christmas range online too.

After a quick scan of The Range’s website, Metro.co.uk found more than half of advent calendars were listed as ‘sold out’.

It’s a similar tale for artificial trees, where only 40 out of 154 are still available to buy. However, this could just be a stock issue leftover from last year.

The Range spokesperson added: ‘Our online team are reporting consumer demand for Christmas items already and website searches reveal that people are wanting to shop earlier this year.

‘After a turbulent year, friends and family are planning to gather to celebrate in a big way and the planning is starting early.’
