And the future King has already travelled far and wide. George, now eight, was just ten months old when he joined the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge on an official tour of Australia in 2014. It was during a visit to Taronga Zoo in Sydney that Prince George stole the show as he encountered an unusual creature.

The royal baby spotted a bilby – also called George – through a clear fence and became fascinated.

The zookeeper encouraged William and Kate to allow their son to touch the marsupial.

However, Kate appeared concerned as she pointed out that George “has quite a strong grip”.

William seemed to agree as he added that “if he gets it, he’ll never let it go”.

Following the visit, Prince George was gifted his own soft toy bilby to take home.

The young royal could also be facing major changes this year as Kate and William decide on the best school for him.

The royal couple have purportedly been visiting schools in Kate’s home county of Berkshire “which has got a lot of people talking,” according to a source.

Speculation is rife among royal fans about George’s next steps in education.

Some believe George could be sent to a boarding school this year. He will be the same age William and Charles were when they boarded.

A source told New Idea: “William and Kate have recently visited schools in the Berkshire area, which has got a lot of people talking.”

It has also been reported that Kate and William have been house hunting in Berkshire, where Kate grew up and her parents still live.

The Duke and the Duchess could be taking into consideration a “flexible” boarding plan for George which would enable him to split his time between the school and his home.
