Charlotte cuddles dog Orla in new birthday photo shared by William and Kate
Another photo of Princess Charlotte has been released with thanks for the kind wishes for her eighth birthday.
Prince William, 40, and Kate, 41, shared the image on Twitter last night with the caption: ‘Thank you for all the birthday wishes.’
The couple’s middle child is pictured wearing a blue and white jumper and blue jeans in the image taken by photographer Millie Pilkington.
Charlotte, who is third in line to the throne, smiles in a meadow of whiteflowers while hugging the family’s black cocker spaniel, Orla.
Another photo of the princess was taken over the bank holiday weekend ahead of her birthday, which was yesterday.
As has now become tradition, it was the Princess of Wales who took the picture of her daughter, who is smiling while wearing a white dress.
Charlotte’s birthday comes just a few days before the coronation of her granddad, King Charles.
The princess and the rest of her family will attend the ceremony in Westminster Abbey to watch the crowning of Charles.
She is then expected to join the procession from the church to Buckingham Palace afterwards.
Her older brother George, 9, who is second in line to the throne, will be one of eight Pages of Honour during the service.
He will join a procession through the nave and assist with holding the robes.
The children are expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the day’s events.
Many will be hoping Prince Louis, 5, will repeat his antics of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, where he pulled funny faces on the balcony.
Charlotte has a reputation for being ‘the one in charge’, according to her mum.
Her great-grandma, the late Queen Elizabeth II, once said she likes to look after George, and she has been seen previously telling him what to do.
The family live in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, and the children attend the private Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire.
