Charlotte could make history as one of the first-ever girls to attend Eton

Princess Charlotte could end being one of the first-ever girls to attend Eton College, which is currently a school only attended by boys. If the school makes a decision to go co-ed, Charlotte could follow in the footsteps of her father Prince William – and her elder brother, Prince George. The Prince and Princess of Wales were also recently spotted visiting Eton College with their eldest child, nine-year-old Prince George.

The royal couple have previously stated they do not want their children to go to separate schools – meaning Charlotte could also attend Eton if it goes co-ed.

This comes as the prestigious school is considering admtting girls for the first time in its 600-year history.

Eton’s Provost Lord Waldegrave previously told the Daily Mail the school will go be open to girls in “due course.”

He said: “Ever year, the governors of Eton consider whether Eton should go co-ed. And we don’t quite decide. But, of course, we will go co-ed in due course.”

Eton College only takes on pupils from the age of 13, with potential students having to register by the time they finish in Year 5 – which would be age 10.

Prince George, who was pictured on site at the school last week with his royal parents, will turn 10 next month.

Lord Waldegrave, who has been the current Provost and chairman of Eton’s governing body since 2009, is stepping down from his role soon.

This means that, by the time George is a student, the position could be held by a man – or possibly a woman.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ three children – including five-year-old Prince Louis – currently attend Lambrook School in Windsor.

George, Charlotte and Louis all started at the school last September, having moved from London with their parents prior to the start of the new school year.

It is also the first time that all three siblings have all attended the same school.
