Prince Charles, 73, reportedly invited Prince Harry, 37, and his wife Meghan Markle, 40, to stay with him so he can meet his new granddaughter. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child, Lilibet, in June but the seven month old tot is yet to meet her father’s family in the UK as the Sussexes live in California.

Their first child, Archie, two, was born in London back in 2019 and Charles is said not to have seen his copper-haired grandson since he was six months old.

However, Harry and Meghan are reportedly considering paying a visit to the UK.

The couple are even expected to return to Britain to join the Queen, 95, in celebrating her Platinum Jubilee.

However, according to a royal biographer, the Sussexes are unlikely to accept Charles’ invitation.

Angela Levin told the Sun Online: “Of course when you are married your partner has a say in it all and I don’t believe Meghan ever wants to come back here.

“She would find it very difficult to stay with Prince Charles and the Duchess [of Cornwall] because I think she would be quite awkward about it all.”

Ms Levin, who released ‘Harry: A Biography of a Prince’ in 2018, added: “I think Charles is very brave, very honourable and it should really be Harry that apologies to him and try to get back in his good books but I think this looks as though it’s the other way round.

“He could make a very nice weekend for them and [Harry and Meghan] could still find criticisms there.”

A source explained to the Mirror how the Prince of Wales is extremely keen to see his grandchildren.

They said: “The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss.

“He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children.

“This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time.
