Meghan Markle’s sister says it was Duchess’ decision to quit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made things within the new slimmed down monarchy “very difficult” since they quit their royal duties in 2020, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a series of accusations and revelations about the Royal Family through several interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meg as well as the prince’s memoir, Spare.

And now royal commentator Gareth Russell said that after everything that’s happened in the last few years, it would be “very difficult” for the couple to come back to work again and fulfil King Charles’s hope.

He told GB News: “Buckingham Palace could not have been any more clear than the initial announcement in 2020 of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leaving, that the royal household would be quite willing or quite eager to have the Duke and Duchess of Sussex back at some time in the future.

“In 2020, it was still very much then-Prince Charles’s hope that one day, his younger son and his daughter-in-law would want to come back to work again.”

Russell added: “Unfortunately what has happened in the two or three years since that announcement has made it very difficult.”

It comes after a royal source claimed Meghan Markle is currently in “panic mode”, as the 42-year-old struggles to cling on to the royal connections she once had.

The pair have not made any public appearances with the Royal Family since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year as their “royal currency is dwindling.”

Speaking to Closer, the source explained: “Meghan and Harry are in panic mode and it’s becoming clearer and clearer that their royal currency is dwindling which is having a knock-on effect on their Hollywood careers.

“They both know full well that their success rests on their royal connections.”

The source added: “Being snubbed from King Charles’ birthday celebrations was a huge wake-up call that the Royal Family is no longer prepared to put on a façade in a bid to fund their Hollywood lifestyles.”
