The Prince of Wales has made it clear to his son about his wish to spend quality time with two-year-old Archie and seven-month-old baby Lilibet. Sources close to Charles said even though there have been reports of both of them not talking to each other, the father and son duo have been on “a journey of rediscovery” in terms of their relationship and that he is “desperate” to see his grandchildren.
One source told The Mirror: “The Prince of Wales has spoken to his son frequently in recent months.
“He loves him very much, as he does both his children, and he looks forward to them being able to spend time together in the near future.”
The relationship between them took a different turn after Prince Harry accused his father of cutting him off financially during the much-talked-about interview with Oprah Winfrey.
He also said that his father has not been taking his calls and also made claims about Charles’ parenting.
However, both of them seemed to have been bonding over time with many noticing the fact that Charles mentioned Harry by name and praised his work on the environment in a recent essay in Newsweek as offering an olive branch.
A source told the publication that a further olive branch has now been extended Charles inviting Harry and his family to stay with him when they next visit the UK.
This is the first time that an offer has been made to Prince Harry and his family after both of them decided to quit Royal roles to set up a home in California.
However, the latest plan to reunite with Prince Harry has been left into a lurch after the Duke of Sussex suggested a return would come at “too great a personal risk” due to his security situation.
The 37-year-old Prince has decided to sue the British government by applying for a judicial review against the decision, which could see him face the Home Office at the court.
A source told The Mirror: “The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss.
“He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children.
“This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time.
