Chaos as flights cancelled after Luton airport car park destroyed in huge fire
Holidaymakers face chaos after a huge fire at Luton Airport has cancelled all flights.
The multi-storey car park collapsed after being engulfed by the blaze on Tuesday night (October 10), with hundreds of cars destroyed.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at around 9pm to find flames and smoke billowing from the building.
More than 15 crews battled the inferno with four firefgighters rushed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Another was treated at the scene.
One witness described the flames spreading ‘within minutes’ from the upper floor. Russell Taylor said: “The speed in which the fire took hold was incredible.”
Luton Airport’s latest statement reads: “All flights are suspended until 12pm on Wednesday. Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time.”
