Change UK face Brexit BACKLASH as ‘childish tactics’ for Farage debate backfire

Heidi Allen of Change UK called the Brexit Party leader a coward upon hearing that he declined to debate the party as other members took to Twitter to criticise him. Both Mrs Allen and fellow Change UK MP Chris Leslie faced lengthy criticism from Brexiteers for resorting to “playground politics” and name calling. When speaking to the BBC Mrs Allen said: “Nigel Farage, what a coward.

“Has he spoken to my husband? Does he realise how difficult I can be?

“That is clearly what has happened”

The Change UK leader is then informed that Mr Farage questioned who she was after announcing his decision.

Mrs Allen replied: “Well he’ll need to come out and have this debate to find out, won’t he.

“That’s very disappointing, in all seriousness, if he has said no that displays to me a level of arrogance that says he thinks his view I the only one that matters.

“And that the British people are only entitled to listen to his view, I have to tell him he’s wrong and I hope sincerely that he changes his mind.”

Chris Leslie also posted on Twitter an image of a chicken with Mr Farage’s face photoshopped on top.

His caption read: “Farage won’t beat, he can’t stand the questions, because he has no answers and he won’t defend his disastrous Brexit.

“What a chicken.”

Twitter users, however, didn’t respond well to the comments and Change UK faced a swift backlash for resorting to “name-calling.”

One Twitter user said: “This is the change in politics I’ve been waiting for… *sarcasm*.”

Another agreed and wrote: “Awful politics of the playground from Heidi Allen, rhetoric is awful at the moment.”

John Hay also commented: “You are meant to be a serious politician, you started no Change UK with the promise of a new type of politics.

“Mr Leslie this is pathetic politics, you actually learn something from how Brexit Party are running its campaign.”

Despite the protest votes against both the Conservative and Labour party, early polls have not suggested that the Change UK party has greatly benefited.

The Brexit Party is expected to be the heavy favourite in the upcoming European MEP elections and are currently estimated to secure 30 percent of the votes.
