Central line closed: Police rush to Oxford Street with ‘casualty’ confirmed
The Central line has been closed with “no service between White City and Liverpool Street”. The Central line also confirmed that there has been a “casualty on the track”, causing disruption for the London Underground service.
At around 4.20pm the Central line confirmed on Twitter that there had been a “casualty on the track”.
They wrote: “Disruption Update. No service White City to Liverpool Street Eastbound only minor delays to the rest of the line while the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.”
At around 4.30pm, they added: “Service Update: While the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.
“No Service between White City and Liverpool Street. Minor Delays on the rest of the line.”
At just after 5pm, the Central line gave another update, reiterating that there was “no service between White City and Liverpool Street.”
Adding: “Severe Delays: Liverpool Street to Epping/ Hainault Via Newbury Park. Please consider alternative routes.”
Writing online about the delays, witness said there had been problems with the Central line service at Bond Street station.
One wrote: “Don’t get on the central line, there’s been an incident at Bond Street.”
Another added: “Anyone got infos about the Bond Street station? I’ve heard it’s being evacuated because of an incident and I’m supposed to go there in five minutes.”
A third wrote: “I just got off a tube at Bond Street & the station announcer said ‘Due to an incident can all passengers leave the station immediately’. Station is closed.
“Lots of police on Oxford Street, not sure why though!”
TfL Bus Alerts added certain routes were “terminating” at Marble Arch due to “emergency services incident at Bond Street Station’.
They wrote: “Routes 7 and 113 are starting and terminating at Marble Arch due to an emergency services incident at Bond Street Station.
Route 159 is starting and terminating at Oxford Circus Station.”
They later added: “Bus routes 94,98,139 and 390 are on diversion due to an emergency services incident at Bond Street Station.
“Buses towards Oxford Street are diverted via Baker Street, Wigmore Street, Cavendish Place and Regent Street.”
