CCTV images released in manhunt for killer of nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte
Police have released images of a man they want to trace as the hunt for the killer of a nine-year-old girl continues.
Lilia Valutyte was stabbed to death in Boston, Lincolnshire, on Thursday.
A major murder investigation is ongoing but the perpetrator remains at large nearly 48 hours after she was found fatally wounded in a town centre street.
Lilia was reportedly playing with her sister when she was attacked.
Members of the public have been warned not to approach the man in the CCTV images and are asked to contact police immediately if they see him.
Two people previously arrested over the incident have been released without any further action being taken.
Providing an update on the investigation, chief superintendent Martyn Parker said ‘officers have been working round the clock’ and that information from people in the area could be ‘crucial’.
He continued: ‘These are very clear images of a man we want to speak to, so I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch with us.
‘If you see him, do not approach him but immediately call 999.
‘This is a particularly tragic case and I’d like to reassure the public that we have a huge amount of resources dedicated to the investigation.
‘We continue to provide support to the family of Lilia, as they grieve following this unimaginable loss.’
