Care worker guilty of murdering and raping Lucy McHugh, 13, in woodland
A care worker has been found guilty of killing and raping 13-year-old Lucy McHugh who was stabbed to death in woodland in Southampton.
Stephen Nicholson was found guilty of repeatedly stabbing the schoolgirl to the neck and upper body at Southampton Sports Centre in July last year.
She suffered a total of 20 stab wounds and seven sliced wounds to her face, upper chest and forearms, caused by a single-bladed knife at least 7cm long, Winchester Crown Court heard.
A jury found him guilty of the murder and rape of the young girl at Winchester Crown Court today.
