Camilla, Queen Consort, is hoping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make an appearance at King Charles’ coronation next year, according to a royal expert. Katie Nicholl told ET Online that their attendance could put an end to ongoing rifts amongst the Royal Family. The coronation is set to be held on May 6 in 2023.
Ms Nicholl said: “There is still that issue of the familial rift, that rupture at the heart of the House of Windsor, and of course, a lot of people are wondering if Harry and Megan and their family will come over for the coronation and whether that will finally signal some thawing of the rift that people had hoped might have taken place over the Queen’s funeral.”
The royal expert added that Camilla is “very keen” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend the event.
She said the decision will ultimately be theirs to make.
“It’s going to be a decision for Harry and Megan to make,” Ms Nicholl said.
“In my book, The New Royals, I do talk about how behind the scenes, Camilla has done really everything she can to try and bring this family back together, and press the importance of trying to move on from this rift, and I think she would be very pleased, as would the king for Harry and Meghan to be at the coronation.”
“It remains to be seen whether or not they attend,” Ms Nicholl continued, adding, “but of course, it will be down to the Sussexes to make the ultimate decision as to whether they’re going to come over for King Charles’ coronation on May the 6th.”
While it’s not clear whether or not the couple have been officially invited to the ceremony, Ms Nicholl said official details regarding a guest list have yet to be revealed.
“We haven’t got any official details on the guest list, but I’m hearing they are likely to be invited along with other senior and extended family members,” she shared. “Whether or not we see them there — we have to wait and see, but it’s my understanding they will be, of course, receiving an invitation to the coronation.”
The coronation of King Charles III will take place on the same day as Meghan and Prince Harry’s son, Archie’s birthday.
The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
King Charles III will be crowned alongside Camilla, Queen Consort. The Palace said the ceremony will “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
It will coincide with Archie Harrison’s fourth birthday, also taking place on 6 May.

Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti said their attendance at the ceremony is not guaranteed.
He previously told Express.co.uk: “In terms of Meghan and Harry being there, I don’t think that’s a given.
“Remember, they were present for the Queen’s passing and mourning by coincidence, they had chosen to come to London and Manchester for the promotional tour of their own activities.
“And in a way it was just fortune that they were able to be present immediately.”
