Camilla’s “enjoyable” personality has been praised as she made a funny “quip” about the coronavirus outbreak. The Duchess of Cornwall showed her “more humorous side” to the delight of royal fans and journalists present. HeirPod host and ABC News royal contributor Omid Scobie spoke about the recent royal engagement she went on this week.

Mr Scobie told listeners: “We also got to see a bit of a lighter side to Camilla this week.

“When she visited a London, she joked that she was self-isolating from the coronavirus.

“She was at the London Transport Museum and entered an air raid shelter that was made for one person.

“She looked over to one of the reporters there and said ‘I’m self-isolating’.”

He continued: “Of course, online everyone thought it was quite funny.

“I think we’ve always seen Camilla show this sort of more humorous side of herself on engagements.

“She’s certainly not one to hold back from a quip here and there.

“It’s one of the things that makes her quite enjoyable to be on royal engagements with.”

The Duchess also attended the grand opening session of the Women of the World festival just before International Women’s Day.

She spoke about domestic abuse in the UK and around the world, launching her first ever hashtag.

#EveryonesProblem comes off the back of a campaign that she’s launched with the Refuge and Safe Lives charities.

Mr Scobie also spoke about the Queen taking preventative steps to protect herself from the coronavirus.

He said: “During an investiture at Buckingham Palace this week, she wore an unusually long pair of gloves.

“We haven’t really seen her wear gloves at investitures for many many years.

“But, of course, she’s some weeks away from her 94th birthday.

“She would be following every precaution that she can.”
